Away in a Manger, Asleep on the Hay is an arrangement by Daniel Lee Gibby of the two different versions of the Christmas hymns which are both titled Away in A Manager. This arrangement is for piano, organ, two violins and flute.
Violin 1 is meant to be a little more difficult than Violin 2. Neither organ nor piano parts are very difficult. The organ part could be played with pedals or with the ‘Bass coupler’ button pressed with one manual, and is meant to be very light with Flute or other light Reed type stops (sounds).
Song Background
I was asked to arrange a hymn for Sacrament meeting for Christmas, which should include the piano, organ, two violins and a flute. Away in a Manager was the first song that came to mind, and I discovered later that I had already written a different arrangement. I included elements from both versions of Away in a Manager which play as counter melodies of each other during the chorus.
There is a download for each separate part as well as for the full score.
